Manual Downloading Image Libraries for Your Online Products

Downloading Image Libraries for Your Online Products

Why product images matter

High-quality product images are the foundation of any online shopping experience. Research shows that 73% of consumers consider online shopping riskier than buying in-store — and the first thing that builds trust is seeing the product clearly. Without sharp, zoomable images, customers can’t inspect what they’re buying, and conversion drops.

Features like zoom-in are considered essential for e-commerce usability — they let shoppers simulate the physical experience of picking up a product and examining it closely. For your clients, this means: better images = fewer returns, higher trust, more sales.

Image requirements

Before downloading, make sure you know what your webshop or app needs. Icecat offers images in multiple resolutions and sizes. See our recommendations for images based on retailer requirements to pick the right format for your use case.

Who downloads images and why

There are two common scenarios:

1. Automated integration (the ideal setup)
Advanced retailers download and integrate thousands of images daily — in the right resolution and size for their webshop or app — fully automated from Icecat’s feeds.

2. Manual or semi-manual download (this guide is for you)
Many users still need to download image libraries manually — whether they’re building an automated connection and need images in the meantime, or they need a quick batch for a specific campaign. This is especially common for:

  • Brand managers who need to send product images to retailers for last-minute promotions.
  • Beauty & FMCG retailers who work closely with brands and still expect image zip files for upload.
  • Localized markets — cosmetics and FMCG images are often adapted per market. For example, an Italian webshop needs to show the product packaging as it appears in Italian stores, with local ingredients, slogans, and branding.

How to download images for your feed?

Let’s see step-by-step how to easily download images from Icecat, based on a product list.

  1. Login into Icecat Catalogue with your username and password. If you don’t have an Icecat account, you are welcome to register – it’s free and only takes 2 minutes.
  2. Go to: Burger Menu > My feed covergae.
  3. Process with the feed matching, It is explained in details in the 🔍 Matching and Coverage Analysis of Your Catalog
  4. ‼️Gallery download is possible only for feeds with less than 10,000 products!
  5. After the matching is finished, the Image Download is available on My Downloads.

💡 Downloading images from Icecat allows you to choose the language and resolution for partial download. This is very useful for selected downloads for example for promo campaign.

Image Archive

The output file has the following : Resolution > Language. Provided in .zip file.

All pictures, except for Original, are standartized and exported in JPG format

Pictures are renamed as follows: Brand + Product Code + Locale + Type. For example, Canon_4728C002_INT_1.jpg

Type 1 indicates the Main product image and further types – 2,3 – are the additional images in the product gallery.

How to download individual product images?

Follow Product Page on the Icecat.biz and click on Download Images Pack.

⚠️ Only High resolution images are downloaded. To download all resolutions, use API or Gallery Download.
