A PIM is Like Sex: It’s Better When it’s Free.
Today, we launch an EDIT button on each of the hundreds of millions of product data-sheets (PDSs) on our website, counting also the almost 50 language versions. The EDIT button leads to our PIM (product information management) login screen. It is an invitation for supplier product managers to signup and request PIM access rights. Channel partners that have access to Full Icecat are entitled to a PIM editor account. And they can invite all their brand suppliers to join for free. Icecat will still take care of quality assurance of data that is entered by Icecat users and brand owners.
If you have already a Full Icecat account, please ask your account manager for assistance. To upgrade it to a PIM editor account, or to create a separate editor account.
If you are a brand rep that already participates in Open Icecat, you are already entitled to a PIM account. An account which it has exclusive rights to access only your brand’s PDSs, and can be further limited to one locale. In other words, country/language combination. There are options present for Digital Rights Management (DRM), so that certain content is only exclusively available for selected, authorized channel partners.

Why invest dollars in your own PIM, if Icecat already provides it for free as part of its standard services? If your company doesn’t have a PIM yet, like most companies don’t, it’s a no brainer to start making use of Icecat PIM cloud. The moment that you have special requirements that leads to an investment decision to setup your own PIM, you still can seamlessly integrate the PDSs that are already present in the Icecat database. Many plug & play add-ons are available to mainstream ecommerce and PIM environments.
