DELL’s Product Stories as New Type of Digital Asset

With DELL’s cooperation, we present a new type of digital asset – product stories as a new multimedia asset in Icecat. Therefore, all Open Icecat and Full Icecat users can use this new type of asset to enrich their product pages. Ideally, to convert more visitors into buyers. Before we jump into more details, let’s see the purpose of the product stories.

What are Product Stories?

Compelling product descriptions don’t just convey what your product is, but why a customer should buy it. Product stories represent a planned use scenario of the product. They’re similar to story mapping but focused on a single-use scenario or workflow rather than all scenarios.

Product stories – often in the form of minisites or html pages including any digital asset – are now available in DELL’s product data-sheets in XML, Icecat LIVE and through the Icecat web site. The main advantage of the free-format product stories is that fully support the look & feel of DELL. For more details, please see the DELL example.

The most simple integration for e-commerce users is to use Icecat LIVE.

In product XML the ProductStory asset is present as a link to a zip file and can be found via the tag <ProductMultimediaObject> and is identified by the attribute Type=”ProductStory”:

The ProductStory asset can be uploaded in the Icecat Vendor Central in the relevant product page via the Multimedia Object function. In addition, check our video tutorials to easily find and upload assets.

If you are a DELL reseller, please use your Icecat account to download the free product content. If you don’t have Icecat account yet, please register online or contact us.
