We updated our core mechanism to the latest version and tested that everything works correctly. So, we migrated our servers from PHP 7.4 to PHP 8.0 and conducted staging tests. Furthermore, we updated the used modules to the newest versions and removed several obsolete ones.
There are a number of improvements and new features that come with PHP 8.0. In general, running an up-to-date version of PHP will speed up your site it also prevents bad actors from taking advantage of security vulnerabilities that could be lurking in older PHP versions.
