Icecat Hexagon Release Notes – August 2026 Smarter Assets. Simpler Connections. Stronger Reliability

Icecat Hexagon is Icecat’s internal platform for connecting retailers, Akeneo users, and marketplaces like Mirakl. It also includes a built-in Digital Asset Management (DAM) system that offers centralized control over product assets.

This month’s release introduces a streamlined, self-service way to connect marketplace accounts, a smarter and more autonomous approach to digital asset management, and a range of reliability improvements across the platform.

Marketplace Integrations

Streamlined Marketplace Connections via CodeFlow

Organizations can now authorize Icecat to manage their marketplace retailer accounts directly from Icecat Hexagon, with no manual or technical workaround required. A new “Connect” action, available from the Organization → Integrations screen, launches a secure OAuth2 Authorization Code flow (CodeFlow): users are redirected to the marketplace’s own authorization page to grant access, and Icecat Hexagon automatically and securely captures the outcome — success or failure — to finalize the connection. This lays the foundation for faster, self-service onboarding onto additional marketplaces going forward.

Smarter Digital Asset Management

Automatic Matching Between Assets and Products

Digital assets whose GTIN and/or Brand Product Code identifiers match a trade item are now automatically linked to it — whether the item is newly created, imported, or updated — with no manual action required. And when an asset is imported before its matching product exists, its identifiers are now preserved so the link can still be made automatically as soon as the product is created. Together, these improvements reduce the manual work needed to keep product visuals and documents properly attached, and can be enabled per organization from Organization → Settings → Asset Management.

Consistent Handling for Videos and Documents

The asset import workflow now downloads, validates, and saves videos and documents with the same rigor already applied to images: hash and metadata checks, protection against overriding manually modified files, and configurable cleanup rules. All digital asset types are now managed through one consistent, reliable process.

Protecting Assets During Cleanup

When automatic cleanup is enabled during import, users can now exclude assets with specific tags from deletion. This gives teams fine-grained control over protecting manually curated or otherwise important assets, even as outdated ones are automatically cleaned up.

Video Game Content

PEGI Age Rating on Exported Videos

Video game products synchronized from Icecat now carry their PEGI (Pan European Game Information) age rating through to their associated videos. Retailer organizations receiving these videos via Icecat Hexagon automatically get the correct age classification and have it kept in sync whenever the source product is updated.

Reliability & Quality

This release also includes a range of behind-the-scenes fixes and stability improvements across Back Office transformations, the Hub interface, channel management, and Digital Asset import, contributing to a smoother and more reliable experience across the platform. In parallel, the team is also working on expanding the platform’s documentation — a foundation that will feed a future AI assistant on Icecat Hexagon.
