January 2026 – Icecat Hexagon Release Notes: Innovation, Collaboration, and Efficiency

Icecat Hexagon is an internal platform of Icecat that is used to connect to individual retailers, Akeneo users and a marketplace like Mirakl.

This month, we’re deploying significant improvements to simplify workflows, enhance collaboration, and automate daily tasks in Icecat Hexagon. Below are the key updates now available.

Digital Asset Management (DAM)

Image Editing

Users can now view all resolutions of an image (original and resized) in a new “Links” tab during editing. Resolutions are clearly displayed, and links can be copied or opened directly.

Export Results

After generating an export, an informative message with a direct link to the exports list is displayed, eliminating the need for manual navigation.

Enhanced Document Visibility

Two new views for filtering documents:

  • List View: Organized list with file-type icons. Hover to preview the first page.
  • Grid View: At-a-glance identification with first-page thumbnails as icons.

Key advantages include faster document search and improved readability.

New Filtering Options

  • Language Filter: Locate assets in one or multiple languages.
  • Tag Filter: Refine searches with single or multiple tags.

Product Information Management (PIM) and Collaboration

Customizable Organization Relationships

We are introducing the first phase of a major feature: customizable organization relationships. This allows organizations (brands, retailers, or partners) to define their own ecosystem:

Visibility Configuration: Global (visible to all) or custom (visible only to selected organizations).

Invitation Management: Send, accept, or reject collaboration requests with one click.

Invitation History: Full tracking of invitations (status, timestamp, users).

Upcoming Features:

  • Granular data sharing (taxonomies, product sets, export actions).
  • Advanced customization of sharing rules for each relationship.

Organizations gain the ability to forge customized partnerships while maintaining complete authority over data sharing and collaborative efforts.

Automated Product Import from Icecat to Hexagon

Users can now automate and customize product imports from Icecat:

  • Flexible Criteria: Filter by enrichment lists, categories, brands, or languages.
  • Data Behavior Control: Overwrite, skip, or merge data as needed.
  • Scheduling: Run imports one-time or automatically (daily, weekly, monthly).
  • Action Management: Enable, disable, duplicate, or manually trigger imports.

The system offers automated product updates, minimizing manual work, and is adaptable to changing client needs.

Bulk Data Management

Bulk Image Metadata Management

Users can import and update image metadata in bulk using a standardized Excel matrix :

  • Add new images (with auto-generated IDs).
  • Update metadata (category, language, tags, alt text).
  • Support for multilingual alt text (multiple rows per image).

Upcoming Feature:

  • Export functionality for offline editing and easy re-import.

Key advantages include streamlined management of a large volume of images (hundreds) through single operations, improved adherence to brand guidelines and accessibility requirements.

Enhanced Automatic Product Matching

Our automatic matching logic now uses MPN (product code) and Brand to match products, even without Gtins. This update addresses a critical need for clients whose enrichment sources often lack complete identifiers. Products with valid MPN + Brand data (but no Gtin) are now automatically matched, reducing manual intervention.

Technical Optimizations

Enhanced Trim Action for Cleaner Exports

The built-in Trim action now removes extra inner spaces (not just leading/trailing), reducing sequences of 2+ spaces to a single space.

The benefits of this change include cleaner and more consistent export data, requiring less manual cleanup for technical teams.

AI-Powered Product Management Tools – Beta

We are launching the first components of our AI strategy with:

  • New MCP servers: A dedicated infrastructure to support AI tools.
  • Beta AI tools that allow users to:
    • Create new products.
    • Update and enrich existing product data.
    • Delete products.
