Icecat Hexagon is Icecat’s internal platform for connecting retailers, Akeneo users, and marketplaces like Mirakl. It also includes a built-in Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, offering centralized control over product assets.
This month’s release focuses on a major overhaul of channel management with a brand-new dedicated interface, expanded inter-organization collaboration through connector sharing, and a series of improvements to workflows, mapping, logistic data handling, and overall user experience.
A new “Channels” section, accessible from Organization settings, gives users a complete and filterable view of all their channels in one place. Each row displays the channel’s name, target market, validity period, distribution network, status, and available actions. Active and inactive channels can be toggled directly from the list. Admins can duplicate, edit, or permanently delete channels. A filter panel on the right lets users narrow results by status, target market, distribution network, and date range. This is part of the ongoing Unified and Flexible Channel Management System initiative, which will continue to evolve in upcoming releases.
Users can now create channels directly from this interface, defining all key parameters: name, target market, validity dates, and distribution network type. Four options are available:
Built-in validation and clear error messages guide users through the process and prevent duplicate or inconsistent configurations.
For example, Organization A can now create a channel to share one version of its marketing data exclusively with Organization B, and a separate channel to share another version with all other organizations, restricted to the FR market only.
Channels now display the number of linked products directly in the table. When saving a change to a channel with linked products, a warning popup appears before the edit is applied, indicating how many products are affected and across how many property groups. Users can confirm the edit or choose to duplicate the channel instead, keeping the original intact and applying the new configuration only to future product assignments. This safeguard prevents unintentional mass updates.
Users can now manage the sharing level of their Connectors — the sets of actions that drive product exports and precomputing — directly from the Connector list and edit views. Each connector can be set to Private, Public, or Selective (shared with specific organizations). When shared, partner organizations gain access to the connector’s actions and can trigger exports and precomputing for the associated products. Sharing can be updated inline for individual connectors or in bulk via a modal. This is part of our Freemium strategy, giving organizations the power to decide and configure with whom they share their data.
An information icon has been added next to each Connector in the list view. Hovering over it shows all the actions linked to that connector in a tooltip, without having to open the edit form. This small but practical addition speeds up day-to-day management by surfacing key context at a glance.
With connector sharing now fully in place, individual action sharing has been removed from the interface. Actions are now accessible exclusively through the sharing rules of their parent connector, eliminating redundancy and reducing the risk of conflicts. The Actions list has been updated: the Sharing Level column and Share button have been removed, while the Owner column now clearly indicates whether the logged-in user is the action owner (crown icon) or has access through a shared connector (info icon with a contextual tooltip).
The FTP Polling workflow block — used to retrieve product data files from remote servers — now supports SFTP and FTPS in addition to standard FTP. Users select the protocol from a dropdown and configure the corresponding credentials and port settings. All existing FTP configurations remain fully compatible. This enhancement improves security and flexibility for integrations with Icecat’s infrastructure, and is part of a broader effort to build a complete Icecat FTP-based import workflow.
A new workflow block handles the complete asset management lifecycle: downloading images from a structured JSON, validating each asset’s hash and metadata against what is already stored, and saving the results to the database. Configurable options let users control whether manually modified assets should be overridden, and whether to clean up images absent from the current import. This delivers a reliable and automated approach to keeping product image libraries in sync.
The product form now includes a dedicated “Logistic Level” frame, providing catalog users with a clearer and more structured way to view and manage logistic data. A panel on the left displays the available hierarchy levels (Product, Inner/SPCB, Outer/PCB, Pallet); selecting a level updates the main area to show only the relevant properties. Users can add or remove hierarchy levels at any time via a “+” button and trash icons. Attribute groups are listed on the right for in-level navigation, and searching for a property automatically highlights the corresponding level. This redesign aligns logistic data management with the rest of the product form and makes handling complex packaging structures significantly more intuitive.
Users can now assign and reorder priority indexes for mapped values in the Built-in Value Mapping feature. Each mapped value can be given a position (1, 2, 3…) via direct input or drag-and-drop, determining the order in which values are returned at export time. In single-match mode, only the highest-priority value is returned; in multi-match mode, all matching values are returned in priority order. Reindexing is automatic and real-time. Existing mappings without defined indexes remain fully functional and are auto-assigned on next edit. This is part of ongoing improvements to the Mapping Tool, adding smarter control over how transformation outputs are prioritized.
Bulk operations on list views — across DAM, PIM, Taxonomy, Workflows, Connectors, and more — now follow a consistent pattern throughout the platform. As soon as items are selected, a floating action bar appears, showing a selection counter, a “Clear selection” button, and organized action groups: neutral actions, state-change actions, and destructive actions (always isolated on the far right). Single-row actions are disabled while bulk mode is active to prevent accidental edits. This standardization makes working with large datasets faster and more predictable, regardless of which section of Hexagon you’re in. A “Select All” feature spanning all pages will be addressed in a dedicated upcoming release.
Delivery Requests let organizations mandate Icecat Hexagon’s editorial teams to deliver their transformed data to other organizations.
Delivery requests can now be placed “On Hold”, allowing teams to temporarily pause work when waiting for additional information from a client or reseller. While on hold, request content cannot be edited — consistent with the behavior for in-progress requests. The status is visible and filterable in both the Back Office and the Hub UI, with a clear visual indicator to distinguish it from other statuses at a glance.
