Documents

Leaflet

Format: .pdf

A product leaflet is a document provided by the brand that offers technical information about a product in a visually appealing way. Essentially, a digital brochure. Usually, a Local asset.

Leaflets are designed to help customers understand a product’s value and functionality and are often used in both online and offline sales channels.

Generated PDF

Format: .pdf

❗Only for Open Icecat Products.

The backup service for sponsored products ensures every product has a leaflet.

If a product doesn’t have a brand-provided leaflet, Icecat will essentially collect the information we have about the product (identifiers, descriptions, features, and a gallery) and put it into a PDF according to the pre-defined template, like in the image below:

Manual PDF

Format: .pdf

A product manual is an official document containing detailed instructions on how to use, install, maintain, and troubleshoot a product. It typically includes safety guidelines, step-by-step setup procedures, technical specifications, and contact information for support.

Since most manuals are multilingual, this asset often belongs to the 🌐 International language.

Formats: .pdf/.jpeg

A size chart is a guide provided by the brand that shows the product dimensions or size.

Quick Start Guide

Format: .pdf

A Quick Start Guide is a simplified instruction manual provided by the brand that helps users set up and begin using a product. It usually includes basic installation steps, essential functions, and visual diagrams or illustrations to help users with the initial setup.

Unlike a detailed manual, it focuses only on the most critical information to start immediately working with the product without additional details.

Carbon Footprint

Format: .pdf

A Carbon Footprint is a document provided by the brand that indicates the total greenhouse gas emissions produced throughout a product’s lifecycle, typically expressed in kilograms of CO₂.

This document helps you understand the environmental impact of the product. It may cover emissions from raw material extraction, manufacturing, transportation, usage, and disposal.

Repairability index overview

Formats: .pdf or .jpeg

The Repairability Index (Indice de réparabilité) is a mandatory label in France that rates how easy it is to repair a product, helping consumers make more sustainable choices.

Despite being originally French, it is also used in the DACH region and other EU countries.

Provided by the brand or manufacturer, it gives a score from 1 to 10 based on criteria such as availability of spare parts, ease of disassembly, and access to repair documentation. The index aims to reduce electronic waste by encouraging the design and purchase of more repairable products.

Durability Index

Format: .pdf

The Durability Index (Indice de durabilité) is a French labeling initiative that evaluates how long a product is expected to last, aiming to promote more sustainable consumption. It goes beyond the Repairability Index by considering factors such as product reliability, upgradeability, availability of spare parts over time, and repairability. The score is usually presented on a scale (e.g., from 1 to 10) and is intended to help consumers choose products that are designed to last longer and generate less waste.

CE Marking

Format: .pdf

CE Marking is a certification symbol affixed to products by the brand to indicate that the product complies with all relevant EU safety, health, and environmental protection requirements. It is mandatory for many products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA).

Unlike the Declaration of Conformity, CE Marking is assigned by independent authorities.

Other PDF

Some brands may have custom descriptions for other PDFs.

Energy Labels

An Energy Label is an official mark that shows how energy-efficient a product is, usually rated on a scale from dark green (most efficient) to red (least efficient). It helps consumers quickly compare products and choose options that save energy, money, and reduce environmental impact.

EU Energy Label

Formats: .pdf and .jpeg

An EU Energy Label is a standardized label that brands must provide for products sold within the European Union to communicate a product’s energy performance at a glance. It typically displays the model identifier, the EU energy‑efficiency class (on the A–G or A+++–D scale), key metrics such as annual energy or water consumption, noise emissions (for appliances like dishwashers or washing machines), and capacity (e.g., litres or kilograms).

There are two types of labels:

  • non-rescaled – deprecated format, you may encounter it in older products.
  • rescaled – the example is provided below, the most up-to-date version.

EU Declaration of Conformity

Format: .pdf

A EU Declaration of Conformity is a formal declaration that a product meets all applicable EU safety, health, and environmental protection requirements.

Provided by the brand, it typically includes the manufacturer’s name and address, the product’s model or type identification, references to the relevant EU directives and harmonized standards, a description of the conformity assessment procedure, the place and date of issue, and a legally binding signature on behalf of the organization.

EU Declaration of Conformity for Xerox printer.

UK Declaration of Conformity

Format: .pdf

The UK Declaration of Conformity is a document provided by the brand to confirm that a product meets all relevant UK regulations and standards, similar to the EU Declaration of Conformity but aligned with UK law.

It typically includes the manufacturer’s name and address, product identification, applicable UK legislation, references to designated standards, details of the conformity assessment procedure, and a dated signature from an authorized representative.

Safety Data Sheet & Safety Information

Format: .pdf

A Safety Data Sheet and Safety Information document serve one purpose – to provide information for safe use of the product.

Safety Information is a longer and more detailed manual, while the Safety Data Sheet is a shorter brochure. In both cases, it is a document provided by the brand that contains essential information for safe handling, storage, and disposal. It usually includes details on potential hazards, first-aid measures, protective equipment, and regulatory compliance.

Though similar, Icecat treats them as different types. Please check the manual for your export format.
