Icecat Hexagon Release Notes – April 2026

Icecat Hexagon is Icecat’s internal platform for connecting retailers, Akeneo users, and marketplaces like Mirakl. It also includes a built-in Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, offering centralized control over product assets.

This month’s release focuses on performance optimization, granular control, and seamless collaboration, empowering you to work smarter, faster, and more precisely.

🚀 Performance & Usability

Optimized Precomputing: Faster Processing with Smart Targeting
To improve performance and reduce unnecessary processing, we’ve enhanced our precomputing system to automatically target only the products and properties impacted by mapping updates. Whether changes are made via Excel import or manual UI adjustments, the system now identifies the exact scope of the update, such as modified transformations or affected properties, and triggers precomputing only for what’s necessary.
This smart targeting minimizes the load on the precomputing queue, speeds up processing times, and ensures that updated products are available more quickly. The result? A more efficient workflow and faster access to your synchronized data.

Enhanced Navigation: Persistent Title Line for Clear Context

To improve usability, we’ve made the title line sticky across all Icecat-Hexagon PIM tabs. Now, essential context remains visible at all times, even when scrolling. This small but impactful change ensures users always understand the information displayed, without overlapping or hiding content.

Introducing Product Data Quality Score
We’re excited to introduce the Product Data Quality Score, a powerful new tool that evaluates the completeness and richness of your product sheets on a scale of 0 to 100. Updated automatically with every edit, this score provides instant feedback on how well your product data meets best practices, helping you identify gaps and prioritize improvements.
Beyond just a number, the score comes with actionable advice, sorted by impact, so you can focus on what matters most. Whether it’s adding high-quality images, filling in key marketing properties, or enhancing descriptions, you’ll have clear guidance to boost your score and your product’s performance.

Seamless Data Sync: Automated Icecat Notifications
To ensure full transparency and control over data synchronization, we’ve introduced automated daily notifications sent to Icecat whenever product data is updated in Hexagon. Each notification includes a CSV report listing the exported products, with key details such as Brand, GTIN, MPN, and Name, so you can easily track what’s been synchronized.
This enhancement makes the Hexagon-to-Icecat data flow smoother and more traceable, giving you confidence that your updates are always up to date.

🔗 Collaboration & Sharing

Expanded Sharing Control: Manage Taxonomy Status Directly from the Entity List
Building on our recent action sharing enhancements, we’re now extending the same seamless experience to taxonomy management. Update sharing status (Private, Public, Restricted, or Selective) for individual or multiple taxonomies, directly from the entity list, without navigating to the Relations menu.
This addition completes our vision of unified, granular sharing control across all entity types, making collaboration even more efficient and intuitive.

📁 Digital Asset Management (DAM) Enhancements

Enhancement: Search by Filename in DAM
We’ve improved the free-text search in the DAM to include filename matching. Whether you remember the full filename or just a part of it, you can quickly find your assets, no need to recall exact metadata or tags. This update makes searches faster and more flexible, so you spend less time looking for assets and more time creating.

Direct Product Access from DAM
Product titles in the DAM’s “Trade Items” tab are now clickable, allowing users to open the linked product page in a new tab with a single click. This creates a seamless bridge between asset management and product details, simplifying navigation and saving time.

Flexible Asset Management in DAM: Custom Indexing per Product
Now in the DAM, you can assign a unique priority index to each asset for every linked product. This new feature lets you customize the order of images, documents, or other assets directly within the DAM interface, ensuring the most relevant content is always prioritized based on the product context.
Set a default index for global consistency, or override it individually in the “Trade Items” tab. With a simple per-item reset option, you can easily revert to the default priority at any time. This enhancement gives you full control over asset display, all from the DAM, making it easier than ever to tailor content to each product’s needs.

Effortless Asset Prioritization: Drag-and-Drop Reordering & Visual Indexing
Managing asset priorities is now more intuitive than ever. With our new drag-and-drop reordering feature in the Product Catalog, you can easily rearrange images linked to a product. Simply drag an asset to its new position, and the priority order updates instantly. A dynamic index badge on each asset thumbnail provides clear, at-a-glance visibility of its current priority, ensuring you always understand the display sequence.
This seamless integration between the Product Catalog and DAM guarantees that any changes you make are automatically synchronized, maintaining consistency across your workflow. These enhancements make asset management faster, clearer, and more efficient.

Bulk Metadata Management: Export Images to Excel Template for Offline Editing
Building on our existing bulk import matrix for images, we’ve now added the ability to export selected images and their metadata to the same Excel template. This allows users to:

• Download image metadata (including thumbnails for easy identification) directly from the DAM.
• Edit categories, tags, or custom fields offline in bulk.
• Re-import the updated template to apply changes seamlessly, no manual updates needed.
  This enhancement closes the loop between import and export workflows, making it easier than ever to efficiently manage large volumes of image metadata.

Consistent Asset Tracking: Universal Supplier Asset IDs
Every digital asset, whether imported via Excel, FTP, or manually, now receives a unique, immutable Supplier Asset ID. This ensures full consistency across all import methods, eliminating traceability gaps and preventing duplication during exports or re-imports.

⚙️ Mapping & Integration Improvements

Simplified Feature Mapping: Automated Concatenation with Full Control
Mapping product features just got easier. Our new Built-in Feature Concatenation tool lets you automatically combine product features into a single, customizable string, complete with flexible separators and inclusion/exclusion controls. This tool reduces manual effort and ensures consistent, high-quality outputs every time.

Icecat FTP Integration: First Steps Toward Full Automation
We’re enhancing our workflow capabilities to streamline Icecat FTP integration and simplify asset management. In this release, we’ve added two key building blocks:

• FTP Polling: The workflow now automatically checks Icecat’s FTP server daily for new or updated files, ensuring your product catalog stays current with the latest manufacturer data.
• File Unzipping & Filtering: Compressed files (.rar, .gz, .zip, .7zip) are automatically decompressed, with optional regex filtering to process only the files you need (e.g., XML/JSON).
  These improvements lay the foundation for end-to-end automation, with more to come in future sprints—including XML-to-JSON conversion, template-based transformations, and asset validation/saving. Stay tuned as we continue to simplify Icecat data integration!
