Bestway (outdoor pools), Nike, and Adidas are the top three brands in Icecat’s Sports & Recreation monitor over 2019. The Icecat stat is based on 21 million online Product Data-Sheet (PDS) requests through searches or otherwise. The total number of Sports & Recreations brands monitored is 1,562.
There is, little concentration in Sports & Recreation as the top 25 of brands covers only 43% of total brand visibility in this vertical, and the highest brand share is a mere 6% (Bestway). Of course, the concentration in individual categories, like sport shoes, can be quite high.
In general, the Sports & Recreation vertical is e-commerce ready. The branded products are quick to sell online, both by generalists and by specialists like Zalando. The more fashionable sportive products might – however – be more prone to consumer returns.
