South African IT Reseller Implements Shopify Ecommerce Solution

A South African IT reseller who wants to stay anonymous because of their success implements a Shopify ecommerce solution to save time and costs. The IT reseller had 40 supplier connections; as manually updating these is inefficient, Icecat Connect was implemented to easily import unstandardized data from multiple suppliers from different sources and convert it to one standardized format.

Moreover, their in-house-built PIM was replaced by Icecat PIM to make use of an already-developed and maintained PIM that incorporates all the e-commerce best practices. With Icecat PIM, the IT reseller uses it for:

  • Building their own categorization
  • Set price rules for products based on the supplier’s purchase price
  • Warehouse selection to choose the lowest price among the distributors
  • Multiple product statuses
  • Related products for cross- and up-sell

Instead of creating products from scratch, they utilize content from Icecat. They match supplier brands and MPNs with the Icecat catalog, instantly enriching the products in their assortment. With this workflow, it not only saved time but also enhanced the quality of product listings.

Icecat PIM established a customized output solution for the Shopify ecommerce environment and created an API connection to the ERP system, Acumatica.
