The demand for high-quality product content has continued its upward trajectory throughout 2024. In the latest Icecat Brand Rank Monitor, we tracked 33,000 brands, measuring their rankings based on billions of product data sheet (PDS) downloads and direct consumer views across our global network.
Each brand’s ranking is determined by the volume of product content interactions—brands with a lower rank have higher visibility and engagement, while those ranked higher need more downloads and views to climb the rankings.
In 2023, Icecat’s global catalog recorded over three hundred billion product data sheet requests throughout the year. This trend continued to rise in 2024, with a 26% increase in total requests, reflecting the growing reliance on structured product data across industries.
The top-performing brands in both years remained largely within the tech sector. HP, Lenovo, and Samsung continue to dominate the ranking, with each brand generating over one billion product content requests. Other major players in the Top 10 include Dell, ASUS, Cisco, as well as Apple, and Phillips.
The Brand Rank page provides more than just rankings—it offers a range of key performance indicators (KPIs) that give brands a detailed view of their performance. One of these critical insights is brand analytics by country, allowing brands to assess their visibility and engagement levels in different regions. However, due to the global nature of e-commerce and anonymous browsing behaviors, not all interactions can be precisely linked to a specific country. Icecat recognizes this challenge and provides as much localized data as possible while maintaining accuracy.
Another valuable metric available is the Brand Average Review Score, which collects customer feedback across multiple sources to present an up-to-date assessment of brand reputation. The number of reviews factored into the score ensures transparency and reliability, and this statistic is also accessible via the Testseek XML API for seamless integration.
Additionally, Icecat displays a Data Health Score, which evaluates the completeness of a brand’s product data. This metric considers all product data sheets, including main products, accessories, and spare parts, ensuring brands can monitor and improve their content quality. A color-coded indicator makes it easy to track changes in data completeness over time.
While technology brands lead the overall rankings, we recognize the increasing demand for product content across multiple industries. That’s why, Icecat is expanding its insights and covering categories like Toys, Fashion, Computers, Health & Beauty, and Domestic Appliances. By diving deeper into specific sectors, we aim to provide tailored insights and benchmarks that help businesses understand their industry positioning and optimize their digital strategies.
