Philips PicoPix PPX 1430, a Small and Compact Mini Projector

I recently acquired a mini projector, and I thought it might be interesting to give you a little feedback. First of all, you should know that I am anti-projector in the first place. I would never buy one myself. They are too big, and unpractical compared to a TV. In short, I had only arguments against it. But, as I got it as a present the Philips PicoPix PPX 1430 mini projector, I started to use it and changed my mind. 😊

Advantages

A positive surprise was the small size of the box, and next the small size of the device. The Philips PicoPix PPX 1430 is a very compact projector that is small enough to carry around in your pocket. I looked at the specifications because I thought it was impossible for a projector of this size to produce a two meters diagonal image, but it ended up being true.

It comes with a power supply, a mini tripod, a remote control, an RCA cable, a USB cable and a small case. The mini tripod is not ultra-stable, you may have to invest in a larger tripod if you need one.

Complete Functionality

It is equipped with a battery with an life time of 2.5 hours, which is quite practical for giving presentations without worrying about charging. It has sufficient options to connect: a port to connect USB sticks and hard disks, and also an SD port for cards. It is equipped with a loudspeaker, which is already OK, but an external one is definitely better. It supports a large number of video, audio or image formats. I didn’t test all, but everything I wanted to watch could be handled without any problems. It supports the playback of HD formats even if it is not transcribed in HD on the screen since it has a native resolution of only 800×600. Moreover, it is an environmental friendly device with a low power consumption, durable and energy efficient.

A real surprise

Summarizing, I am really satisfied with this mini projector which in my opinion has many advantages that compensate for its weaknesses. It is good for watching movies with friends. The image quality of this projector is quite good, especially considering its small size. Basically, it’s a decent pocket-sized projector that I would recommend without a doubt.
