In release notes 216-217, the Icecat team delivered several impactful updates focused on improving regulatory compliance, optimizing platform performance, and enhancing content security. From empowering vendor managers with better tools to manage brand-organization relationships for GPSR compliance to migrating key user pages to server-side rendering (SSR) for faster load times, these improvements aim to make the Icecat experience more efficient and secure. Additionally, we’ve strengthened the protection of Full Icecat content, introduced multiple options for GPSR contact details export, and improved group actions in Brand Cloud for better productivity. For additional details, please refer to the previous Icecat Release Notes.
In this sprint, we continued enhancing the Icecat system to support the management of brand and organization relationships, an essential step toward helping our partners comply with the new General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) requirements.
Starting from this release, Icecat vendor managers can now attach Organizations – added in the previous sprint – directly to Brands in the system. This new functionality allows us to define the nature of the relationship between a brand and the organizations associated with it. To make it more practical and understandable for our users, Icecat introduces specific terminology for these relations:
A new section is now available on the Brand page in Brand Cloud, where vendor managers can manage these connections. They can select the organization, assign the relation type, and even create a new organization directly from the brand page. Importantly, each brand can have only one Brand Owner but may have multiple Licensees and Representatives.
Additionally, vendor managers can define the category scope for Licensees and Representatives. This helps both users and the system understand which product categories each organization covers for the brand – improving clarity and data accuracy.
To further support efficient organization management, we have also enhanced the Organizations functionality. Users can now filter organizations by Country, Registration ID, and Registration Number, or quickly search by Organization Name. A “Reset filters” button has been added for convenience, and the data table now supports sorting by column headers for a smoother navigation experience.
This update strengthens Icecat’s readiness for GPSR compliance while providing our partners with more transparency and control over brand and organization relationships.
In this sprint, we released new export options for GPSR-related contact information to support our partners in meeting the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR). These enhancements provide flexible ways to access and integrate essential contact details into channel partner systems.
The GPSR contact details are now available in the following formats:
For complete details about these export formats and recommendations on integrating them into the channel partner systems, we invite you to read the manual here: Manual: Retrieving GPSR-related contact details
With these updates, Icecat continues to support partners in staying compliant with GPSR requirements while ensuring smooth and efficient data handling.
In this sprint, we completed the migration of the “My Profile” and “My Downloads” pages to Server-Side Rendering (SSR). This technical improvement was aimed at significantly enhancing the user experience by optimizing loading times, improving accessibility, and ensuring better overall performance.
Alongside the migration, we also performed code optimization to streamline the pages and improve maintainability. To measure the success of this work, we compared the Lighthouse performance metrics before and after the migration. The results clearly show substantial improvements across key areas:
These results demonstrate a major leap forward in speed and accessibility, especially on mobile devices where performance gains are the most noticeable. With this migration, Icecat users can now enjoy a faster, smoother, and more reliable experience when managing their profiles and downloads.
In this sprint, we enhanced the protection of Full Icecat content displayed on icecat.biz product pages to better safeguard valuable data from scrapers and unauthorized users.
With this update, sensitive content such as descriptions, bullet points, product specifications, reasons to buy, videos, and other rich assets available in various product page tabs are now hidden from users who are not logged in or those accessing the platform with an Open Icecat subscription.
For unauthorized users and Open Icecat subscribers, the product pages now display only basic product identifiers, including:
Access to detailed product content is strictly limited to users with a registered Icecat account and an active Full Icecat subscription plan. This ensures that premium content remains exclusively available to authorized partners, providing better protection against scraping and unauthorized use of licensed product data.
In this sprint, we introduced new enhancements to the Brand Cloud Group Actions functionality, making the editors’ workflow more efficient and saving valuable time during bulk product updates.
Editors can now remove product statuses using the group action functionality. This simplifies the process of clearing statuses for multiple products at once.To use this feature:
Once completed, the system will:
We also enhanced the “Change Product Information” group action, specifically for updating feature values.
Starting from this release, editors can now:
After executing this action, users will receive a detailed email report summarizing the changes performed.
These improvements empower editors to manage product content faster and more efficiently, especially when working with large product batches. The updated group actions help reduce manual effort, minimize errors, and keep product information consistent and up to date.
With these updates, Icecat continues to evolve as a robust platform supporting our partners’ operational, regulatory, and content management needs.
