After the start of the co-operation with AliExpress (Alibaba) in the Spanish market last year, AliExpress has now decided to expand the co-operation with Icecat globally. The Alibaba digital economy generated US$1 trillion in GMV (Gross Merchandise Volume) in the 12 months ended March 31, 2020, which mainly included GMV US$945 billion transacted through their China retail marketplaces, as well as GMV transacted through their international retail marketplaces and local consumer services.
The current roll-out phase includes 15 languages. Next to Spanish, English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Turkish, Italian, Russian, and smaller local languages. All of the AliExpress’s global websites will be populated with Icecat’s product content. The relations that Icecat has with strategic brand owners is a very important factor.
AliExpress informs its suppliers, manufacturers, that they can upload their product content into the free Icecat Vendor Central. All this, to ensure that the buyer experience on AliExpress is as how brand owners like it.
AliExpress interest is in digital assets such as specs, marketing texts, product images, reasons to buy, product variants. And also any rich media asset that brand owners can provide.
