TikTok Shop’s UK Sales Far Outpace the Rest of Europe

TikTok Shop continues to generate significantly more sales in the United Kingdom than in any other European market, despite its rapid expansion across the continent. According to e-commerce data provider ECDB, the platform’s gross merchandise value (GMV) in the UK is expected to approach €5 billion in 2026, almost doubling its previous year’s performance.

While the platform is gaining ground in Spain, France, Germany, and Italy, the UK remains its largest and most established European market.

The UK Accounts for 65% of European TikTok Shop Sales

In 2025, TikTok Shop generated approximately €2.63 billion in GMV in the United Kingdom, accounting for 65% of its total European sales. The platform launched there in late 2021, giving it a considerable head start over other European markets.

Spain ranked second with approximately €570 million in GMV, representing 14% of European sales. Despite launching only at the end of 2024, Spain has quickly become one of TikTok Shop’s strongest markets.

France and Germany followed with €360 million and €350 million, respectively, each accounting for around 9% of the European total. Italy generated approximately €150 million, representing a 4% share.

ECDB expects TikTok Shop’s sales to nearly double across these markets in 2026. Although the UK is likely to remain dominant, similar growth rates suggest continental European markets are also developing rapidly.

TikTok Shop Expands Across European Markets

TikTok Shop’s European expansion has accelerated considerably over the past two years. After entering Spain and Ireland in late 2024, the platform launched in France, Germany, and Italy in March 2025.

In June 2026, TikTok Shop expanded further into the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, and Austria. Its Sell Across Europe program also enabled eligible merchants to reach customers across multiple European markets through a single seller registration.

More recently, TikTok Shop began opening cross-border sales between the European Union and the United Kingdom.

This development matters because the UK is TikTok Shop’s largest European market. Sellers in eligible EU countries can reach British consumers without setting up a separate domestic operation, while UK sellers gain access to additional European markets.

The platform’s expansion also increases competition among ecommerce marketplaces, especially as social commerce combines product discovery, creator content, and purchasing in a single app.

What European Expansion Means for Product Content

As TikTok Shop becomes more international, brands and retailers face the challenge of managing product information across multiple markets.

Selling through social commerce platforms involves more than creating engaging videos or collaborating with content creators. Customers still need reliable information on product characteristics, specifications, availability, and compatibility before buying.

For businesses operating across several countries, maintaining consistent product identifiers, accurate descriptions, and localized product information becomes particularly important.

Structured product data solutions like Icecat can support e-commerce operations. Standardized product attributes, multilingual descriptions, images, and rich content help brands and retailers keep product information consistent across sales channels.

Although TikTok Shop emphasizes entertainment-driven discovery, accurate product information remains essential to help consumers understand what they are buying.

The UK Leads, but Continental Europe Is Catching Up

TikTok Shop’s European performance shows how differently social commerce can develop across markets. The UK benefits from an earlier launch and an established seller ecosystem, with more than 300,000 British small businesses now selling through the platform.

Meanwhile, Spain has emerged as a particularly strong market despite its more recent introduction, while France, Germany, and Italy continue expanding their presence.

The latest figures suggest that TikTok Shop’s European growth is far from complete. Its expanding cross-border capabilities could also make it easier for sellers to reach customers beyond their domestic markets.

For brands and retailers, this creates new opportunities to connect with European shoppers. However, capitalizing on those opportunities will require not only engaging social commerce strategies but also scalable, accurate, localized product content.
