Amazon unveiled a series of AI-powered tools and services to help independent sellers automate daily operations, improve advertising, and expand into international markets.
Amazon made the announcements during Amazon Accelerate 2026, the company’s annual seller conference held in Seattle in September. Nearly 4,000 selling partners attended the event, where Amazon outlined how AI could help smaller businesses manage increasingly complex e-commerce operations.
The key development is Amazon’s move toward agentic AI, with systems that can monitor business performance, recommend improvements, and execute tasks within seller-defined limits.
One of the biggest announcements concerned Seller Assistant, Amazon’s conversational AI tool integrated into Seller Central.
Previously focused on answering questions and providing guidance, Seller Assistant is becoming a more autonomous system capable of monitoring business operations continuously.
The assistant can identify changes in inventory, pricing, and sales performance, recommend actions, and remember previous business decisions. Sellers can choose whether the system provides insights, prepares actions for approval, or automatically carries out predefined tasks.
According to Amazon, sellers currently act on approximately 90% of Seller Assistant’s recommendations.
The company also introduced new advertising automation capabilities. Seller Assistant can evaluate product listings, inventory availability, and campaign performance before recommending advertising strategies.
Once campaigns are running, AI can automatically adjust search terms and bids within seller-defined limits. Amazon reported that new campaigns using these capabilities achieved their first sale 40% faster in early results.
Amazon is also extending its AI capabilities beyond Seller Central through a new Selling Partner plugin.
Initially available in the United States, the plugin allows sellers to connect their Amazon business information with external AI assistants, including Anthropic’s Claude and Amazon Quick.
This lets sellers analyze sales trends, manage product listings, and access operational insights through AI tools they may already use.
The integration could make e-commerce management more flexible, especially for businesses operating across multiple platforms and using different software systems.
Amazon is also introducing Listing Protection, which lets eligible sellers keep product listings active while they resolve certain compliance issues. The program is expected to reach all eligible U.S. Account Health Assurance sellers by the end of 2026, followed by a worldwide expansion in 2027.
Amazon’s announcements also addressed changing online shopper behavior.
According to the company, more than 350 million customers used Alexa for Shopping during the previous 12 months. Rather than searching exclusively through product names or keywords, shoppers increasingly describe their needs and ask AI systems for recommendations.
Amazon reported that customers using this conversational shopping approach spend more than 40% more per order.
This development affects how retailers and brands prepare product information.
Traditional e-commerce search often relies heavily on keywords and product titles. Conversational shopping requires AI systems to understand product characteristics, intended uses, compatibility, and differences between alternatives.
For platforms such as Icecat, structured product data becomes particularly relevant in this environment. Accurate specifications, standardized attributes, and complete descriptions can help AI-powered shopping systems identify suitable products and provide more useful comparisons.
As AI takes on more responsibility for product discovery, the quality of underlying catalog information becomes increasingly important.
Beyond AI automation, Amazon announced several initiatives designed to simplify international selling.
Its new Sell Globally tool helps sellers identify international demand for products in their catalogs. According to Amazon, sellers operating in multiple countries generate approximately 70% more revenue on average, although only around 30% currently sell internationally.
Amazon is also expanding logistics services, including warehousing, fulfillment, and shipping solutions that businesses can use independently.
Meanwhile, new multichannel management tools allow sellers to coordinate catalogs, orders, and inventory across Amazon, Walmart, eBay, TikTok Shop, and Shopify through Seller Central.
These developments could reduce the operational complexity of managing multiple sales channels. However, selling across different marketplaces and countries also increases the need for consistent product identifiers, localized descriptions, and standardized product attributes.
Reliable product information helps businesses maintain catalog consistency as they expand into new markets and platforms.
Amazon Accelerate 2026 presented a vision of e-commerce where AI handles more routine operational work, letting sellers focus on product development, customer relationships, and business growth.
The announcements cover several stages of the selling process, from identifying new product opportunities and preparing listings to advertising, inventory management, and international expansion.
However, greater automation also increases the importance of reliable business and product data. AI systems can make recommendations and execute tasks more efficiently, but their effectiveness depends on the accuracy and completeness of the information they use.
For e-commerce businesses, the challenge will be combining automation with strong data management and appropriate human oversight.
Amazon’s latest developments suggest that the next phase of marketplace competition may depend not only on what sellers offer, but also on how effectively they use AI to manage and grow their operations.
