Q1 2020: Growth for Icecat Websites and Social Media Platforms

As the first quarter has come to an end, Icecat marks a growth with their product catalog Icecat.biz, Iceclog, registrations and on social media channels Facebook and LinkedIn, despite the corona crisis.

As consumers today are making informed purchase decisions, product content is essential to optimize the conversion rate. Icecat offers retailers free help with more than one million well-described high-quality product data-sheets. This is one of the reasons for the huge increase in traffic across Icecat websites.

Icecat

Icecat websites saw a significant growth by 33% in visits and by 32% in unique visitors compared to the same period last year, indicating that more and more people are looking for product content solutions to improve their online stores. More importantly, the bounce rate decreased by 25% confirming that visitors found what they were looking for.

Iceclog

Icecat’s blog had a massive increase in visitors, a plus by 717% in visits and by 474% in unique visits to the blog compared to the same period the previous year. Visitors look for information, manuals, tutorials, statistics and solutions on how to optimize their online stores with Icecat’s e-commerce solutions and product data-sheets. A major cause is further the addition of social media functionalities (groups, user accounts, connecting) and the ICURY airdrops.

Open Icecat registrations

Icecat received 19.5% more registration requests for the open catalog than one year before. In March, the number of Open Icecat registrations by ecommerce channel partners increased by 42.3% compared the same period last year. After Icecat announced that it would provide free consultancy and support for every retailer in the world to make their transition from physical to online stores, many companies took the opportunity to get acquainted with the additional free services: free data-sheets to increase their quality of product description, and a free magento connector.

Social Media

Positive numbers across our social media platforms for the first quarter of 2020 as well.

Facebook

The number of followers of Icecat’s Facebook page grew by 44.7% in the first quarter compared to the same period last year. An increase by 16.3% year-to-date.

LinkedIn

The following of Icecat’s LinkedIn page expanded in the first quarter by 8.7% compared to the same period last year.
