Icecat Studio – Sprint 94 Release Notes

In this release, we focused on scaling our AI tools, improving content responsiveness, and laying the groundwork for complex content versioning. These updates aim to increase the precision of visual asset generation. They also ensure the seamless operation of our new framework.

Story Builder v2 – Left Sidebar

We have completed a major development phase for the updated sidebar. This includes a full refactor of navigation and controls for better ergonomics and improved module access. We are currently in the active testing phase and plan to release this functionality in the very near future.

Imports UI – Presets

We are developing a new interface that allows configuring content imports directly on the platform. Users will be able to match the structure of input files with specific story modules. Additionally, we are implementing a brand-level preset system. It enables instant story creation by simply dragging and dropping a file with a recognized structure into the story creation window.

AI-Driven Sandbox: Next-Gen Image Generation

Our AI Sandbox received a significant technical upgrade to improve visual quality and flexibility:

  • gpt-image-2 Integration: This new model supports high-quality image generation up to 4K with significantly better detail rendering
  • Flexible Sizes: The system now automatically adapts image dimensions to match our canvas proportions (e.g., 1200×600, 1464×600), moving beyond previous fixed API limits.
  • C2PA Metadata Fix: We implemented a re-encoding process for OpenAI PNGs to ensure images containing hidden metadata render correctly in the sandbox.
  • Orchestrator Upgrade: The primary model has been upgraded to gpt-5.4 for superior instruction-following in complex scenarios.
  • Safety & UX: A new Safety rejection system provides clear messaging when copyrighted content (e.g., Marvel characters) is requested, and the AI “thought” indicator has been refined.

Content Versioning & Technical Foundation

We have initiated the technical foundation for managing sophisticated marketing campaigns:

  • Name Entity: A new tags entity has been added to the database to allow multiple variants and tags per asset.
  • Version Management: This establishes the framework for time-sensitive story versions (e.g., “Standard – Christmas 2026”) and ensures the correct priority version is published when multiple options exist.

Product Story Framework v2

Development continues on the next generation of our framework:

  • Builder Integration: The system has been migrated to the dev environment to refine the integration and address bugs.
  • Technical Refinements: We are optimizing the client to work with Shadow DOM and aligning styles between the old and new clients to ensure visual consistency.

Other Developments

  • Storage System Optimization: Ongoing performance and optimization improvements to the core storage infrastructure.
  • Test Coverage: Over 3000 lines of code of our microservices were reviewed and covered by tests.
  • Icecat Studio AI Agent: Initiated investigations into AI Agent capabilities.
