Icecat Release Notes 178: New Video Player, Playlist and Age Gating Form

Icecat Release Notes 178 introduces a fresh video player, an improved playlist feature, and improvements to the Age Gating form, along with other significant advancements. For further details, please refer to the previous Icecat Release Notes.

New video player

We’re excited to present to you our recent upgrade of the video player, which will significantly improve Icecat users’ video experience on icecat.biz and Icecat Live. From now we are starting to use the Plyr video player. Compared to the previous video player, Plyr has a modern design and rich technical opportunities.

One of the enhancements developed by our team is the seamlessly integrated playlist feature. A simple click on the designated button grants instant access. Moreover, the playlist automatically surfaces when a video concludes or is paused, ensuring an uninterrupted viewing flow.

Dedicated to refining your user experience, we’ve meticulously aligned our Age Gating form with the sleek Icecat design. Your interactions are now smoother and more intuitive than ever before.

As a testament to our commitment to transparency, videos with Age Ratings are easily identifiable. A discreet yet informative icon resides in the lower right corner of videos within the playlist, empowering you with essential information about the content you’re about to explore.

Other Improvements in Icecat Release Notes 178:

  • During the sprint, our team focused on personalization when our partners were receiving emails in the comfort of their native language.
  • An additional noteworthy advancement involved enhancing SEO and ensuring the accurate positioning of the <h1> tag. This element serves as one of the key channels, effectively conveying essential page content details to search engines, thereby assuming an important role within SEO algorithms.
  • We pressed forward with refining the PIM search page, augmenting its functionality for our esteemed brand partners, and elevating the Copy product feature through the integration of an enhanced copy policy for the set of assets.
  • As part of our development process for the automatic assignment of Brand partners to their corresponding brands, our team meticulously examined and updated the Brands’ URL lists within our system.
