Icecat Release Notes 155: New metrics on Competitor Overview page and final release of Retailer Specific Descriptions

In Icecat Release Notes 155, we will explain the new charts and metrics on the competitor overview page. Further, we will highlight the release of retailer-specific descriptions. And finally, we will explain some improvements and fixes from the sprint. Please, find here the previous Icecat Release Notes.

New charts on the Competitor Overview page

The brand dashboard highlights the competitor comparison page, where users can compare brands’ performance on certain metrics. Now we have added a few additional charts and metrics to help users to analyze brand performance and compare these against competitors.

For this release, the following charts and metrics are new:

  • Chart showing the rank of competing brands over a selected period
  • Graph that shows the market share percentage of the competing brands over a selected period
  • Graph that shows the number of unique platforms used by competing brands over a selected period

Furthermore, we added two tables where users can see the data-sheet download percentage and ranking of the brand at the country level. The map has been modified to show the total number of views/downloads once a user hovers over a certain country.

Retailer Specific Descriptions

In the previous release notes, we announced that the user interface to enrich product content with taxonomy-specific product descriptions per channel partner is live. For example, SEO attributes and marketing texts specific to the Amazon taxonomy. In the Icecat back office, we added a new function to allow users to provide such optional content for third-party taxonomies, typically for larger retailers. This option can be activated for any specific taxonomy separately. After activating this feature on the taxonomy level, users can provide additional descriptions for each activated taxonomy on the product level within the section “Taxonomy specific description.” This way, brands can manage the unique content they tuned specifically for certain channel partners.

For this release, we launched the possibility of publishing those descriptions into XML files and the JSON output.

Other improvements in Icecat Release Notes 153

  • Fixed the deduplication issue where product title duplicated in the case when Product model name = Product family
  • Fixed an issue where a Free Brand Cloud brand users did not see product descriptions and multimedia objects.
  • Fixed the bug where several images showed 404 errors (not found) for Open and Full Icecat products
