Icecat ranked 12th in Main Software Top 50 2020 Edition

For the 9th consecutive year, Main Capital organized the Main Software Top 50. This 2020 edition has an increased number of registrations compared to previous years. Icecat ranked 12th in this 2020 edition with a score of 93.1%.

Due to COVID-19, this year’s award show was unfortunately canceled. Instead, the awards are presented via an online video.

“We thank our users, clients, partners, and the Icecat team. Without them, this result would not be possible. We commit to growth, innovation, and help people make more sustainable purchase decisions.”

Martijn Hoogeveen, CEO Icecat

In the top 50, there are three companies, including Icecat, that are active in the e-commerce market. Other application areas in the Main Software Top 50 are, for example, ERP, business intelligence, medical, monitoring, and content management systems related.

This year, we won several other awards such as the European Business Award, a top 10 listing in the 2020 SME Data Science Top 50, and a ranking as 46th in the FD Gazellen Award of 2020. But, maybe we are the happiest with being number one as content syndicator according to SimilarWeb. Because that says something about people using our platform, which is the competitive edge of Icecat in its core-industry.

Dutch Software companies keep growing

How is the Dutch software industry performing during this special crisis year? In general, the 2020 edition of the Main Software 50 edition shows an overall performance improvement of the Dutch software industry in terms of revenue growth (+21%), employment (+15%), productivity (+5%), profitability, sales via indirect channels, and the SaaS revenue share. The total combined revenue of the Top 50 grew from EUR 371 million in 2018 to EUR 451 million in 2019. Which is a growth rate of 21%.

How does Main calculate the scores?

The ranking in the Main Software 50 ranking is based on seven key KPIs to rank the success of software companies: the absolute amount of revenues, revenue growth (%), recurring revenue (%), cloud/SaaS contribution (%), profitability, international revenue (%), and finally partner revenue (%).
