Carrefour Italy uses Icecat LIVE In-Store for Tablet Assisted Sales

Carrefour introduces Tablet Assisted Sales based on Icecat LIVE in its Italian stores. Europe’s biggest retailer, Carrefour, thus expands its use of Icecat’s catalog from feeding its e-commerce applications to feeding its in-store apps.

Tablet Assisted Sales

In Italy, Carrefour operates 1,074 stores, which are divided into 18 regions. Its 20,000 employees engage daily with customers. In selected physical stores, employees now use the Icecat LIVE service on their tablets. To show customers in-store multimedia product presentations to help them with their purchase decisions. For example, to show product videos and specifications for products that are not available in the respective physical store. In other words, tablet assisted sales.

Brand input requested

In its e-commerce apps, Carrefour imports already marketing text, images, descriptions, features logos, and technical specifications for non-food products from Icecat. See this live example on the website of Carrefour Italy. To feed both its online and in-store apps, Carrefour asks its non-food suppliers to register for Icecat’s free Vendor Central. This application allows supplier brands to enter, edit, and enrich their product content for all their products free of charge. Therefore brands and suppliers can enter product data themselves for Carrefour.eu. But, can also join Open Icecat, for unlimited syndication of all their product information to all their channel partners.

Moreover, also Carrefour Belgium uses the same PIM infrastructure to feed its applications. And, also Carrefour Belgium requests its suppliers to collaborate with Icecat or enter their product data directly in the free Vendor Central themselves. Thus, the overlapping data is re-used by multiple Carrefour organizations.

How to start?

Do you want more information? Please, contact your Icecat Account Manager or contact us online. Further, you can also see our step-by-step tutorial videos on how to register for Icecat’s Free Vendor Central, and how to use the Vendor Central. Use one application to feed all.
