WYSIWYG editor for New Product Story 2.0

Per our previous post about Product Story 2.0, a WYSIWYG editor is available. The new WYSIWYG editor gives editors broader possibilities and is very simple. A user may create a new Product Story 2.0 within a few minutes and publish it through the channel. In this post, we will make a short tour of the key functionalities of the tool.

The WYSIWYG editing page exists out of 3 sections:

  1. Library with modules.
  2. Story content
  3. Editing page

An editor can drag and drop modules from the library section to the story content section creating its own structure for the product story.

To explain, the library contains a predefined assortment of modules. These are standardized and designed by icecat enhanced content geeks. Custom coding modules or stories are not supported in the Product Story 2.0 version. Every new module is designed and coded within the architecture of PET’s unique framework. The list of modules is constantly expanding to satisfy most of the requirements from the channel.

Standardization of modules

Standardization of modules is critical:

  • Firstly, there is an opportunity to choose which modules a channel partner is willing to have.
  • Secondly, some non-compatible modules are automatically excluded from distribution to crucial marketplaces. For example, Amazon or Google Manufacturing Center has its standards, so non-supported modules will be automatically excluded.
  • Thirdly, the product story content assets can be extracted, matched, and integrated with channel partners’ in-house solutions.

Some WYSIWYG highlights

The editing page is interactive. Product story editors can click on any element and instantly adjust it:

The text editing page has everything an editor needs to format the text according to requirements: highlight, change font size and color, align text, change line height and add bullets.

Editor can convert any image in a Product Story 2.0 into a hot spot image:

An editor can customize the indents and borders of every module. For example, add the background color of the entire module or only the borders.

The WYSIWYG editorial tool has wide possibilities of module customization:

1 / 11

The tool contains quite some video layouts. However, now editors can set the video player settings: Autoplay, muted mode, loop, or controlled by the user.

Now editors can add a carousel module within seconds, just upload the images and choose the design and functionalities:
