Icecat Release Notes 146: Logic Update Multi-lingual XML and Final Implementation of Media API

In these Icecat Release Notes 146, we will explain the logic of the multilingual (INT) XML. Further, we will discuss the implementation of the first stage of the new Media API. Please, find here the previous Icecat Release Notes.

INT XML

In this release, we changed the logic of our multilingual (INT) XML repository. Before, users received information in all languages by accessing the INT locale of the XML repositories. Regardless if a user is subscribed the languages or not. From now on, users receive information (in INT) only for those languages for which they are actually subscribed by accessing the INT locale in XML. The system will check the subscribed locales of the particular user and build XML based on the list of that locales.

Please, note that the INT XML is only available upon request for Full Icecat users. To activate the new version of INT XML, contact your country manager.

Final implementation of the first stage of Media API

In the previous Icecat Release Notes 145, we described the first part of the Media API launch. This gives users the possibility to upload videos to Icecat storage. Now, we have added two more attributes (Owner’s User ID and User Reference Code) to allow Icecat users to retrieve the already uploaded videos from the Icecat storage, to stream them to their customers.

  • The owner’s User ID: is a unique identifier that associates the uploaded videos with the user’s ID in our Icecat database.
  • User Reference Code: a value that linking to an asset. For example, the internal reference code for a video, to use in calls of the assets via the API or Icecat Live.

Other improvements in Release 146:

  • Extended the list of user roles who can use Media API
  • Add video previews to the videos uploaded via Media API
  • Ability to add support videos with no audio by the video converter
  • Add smooth scrolling of Icecat Live on smartphones with a touch screen
