Icecat Release Notes 127: New XSD schema errors, Taxonomy Report Update, and HP Import of Bullet Points

In these Icecat Release Notes 127, we discuss the new XSD schema for error messages and a taxonomy report update. Further, we highlight bootstrap removal on pages on icecat.biz and the HP CAP import of bullet points. The previous release notes are available here: Icecat Release Notes 126.

Developed new XSD schema for error message

Users could receive error messages that were not consistent with the XSD schema. Therefore, to align error messaging, we have created a new XSD schema that contains all error messages that can be returned by XML.

Taxonomy report update

From every Icecat product page, users can download a taxonomy report per category. As users expected to see the column Feature_Id first, we changed the column order. Therefore, the column Feature is now shown behind the column Feature_id.

Generation of Bullet Points

We spotted an opportunity to increase the coverage of bullet points in the HP computing categories, given that such data was typically included in other messaging fields. Subsequently, we could automate the extraction and generation of Bullet Points for computing categories based on HP imported data.

Scope of affected categories:

  • All-in-One PCs/Workstations
  • Notebooks
  • PCs/Workstations
  • Tablets
  • Thin Clients

Remove Bootstrap from pages

Bootstrap code was causing an increased weight of Icecat pages, which leads to increased load times. Therefore, to decrease the page load speed we removed unnecessary styles to reduce the weight of Icecat.biz pages.
