Icecat AI Assistant (Lena): Page-aware Answers, an Accessibility Refresh, and a Smoother Mobile Chat

July 2026

Lena – the Icecat AI Assistant – helps visitors on icecat.com, icecat.biz, and iceclog.com get instant answers about product content, APIs, integrations, content standards, and pricing. This release focuses on being more helpful in context, more accessible to everyone, and better on mobile.

Ask about the page you’re on – “Read this page”

Lena can now answer questions about the exact page you’re viewing. Switch on Read this page in the widget and ask things like “what’s the warranty on this?” or “is this in Open Icecat?” – without pasting a GTIN or product code. Lena reads the page’s address, title, and visible text to ground its answer in what’s actually in front of you.

It’s built privacy-first:

  • Off by default – nothing is read until you turn it on.
  • Never stored – the page snapshot is used only to answer that one message.
  • You stay in control – it resets when you leave, and asks again on a new site.

Links keep your conversation open

When Lena points you to a manual, a product page, or a pricing page, those links now open in a new tab. Your chat and your place in the conversation stay intact, so you no longer lose the thread when you follow a link.

A clearer, more accessible widget (WCAG 2.2 AA)

We gave the widget an accessibility pass so it’s comfortable for everyone:

  • Stronger contrast on the disclaimer, links, placeholder and action icons.
  • Readable links – clearly coloured and underlined.
  • Larger touch targets and spacing on the feedback and header buttons.
  • Visible keyboard-focus rings for keyboard and screen-reader users.
  • Windows High-Contrast and reduced-motion support.

Smoother on mobile

On phones, the chat now opens as a full-screen sheet, and the message box stays visible above the on-screen keyboard instead of hiding behind it – so you can always see what you’re typing, and the page no longer shows through behind the chat.

Sharper, better-grounded answers

Behind the scenes, we keep tuning Lena’s knowledge base so that answers stay accurate and grounded in the official Icecat manuals, from API endpoints and content standards to reviews, bullet points, and product data questions.

Try Lena on icecat.com, icecat.biz or iceclog.com – just open the assistant in the corner. Spotted something off in an answer? Use the thumbs-up/thumbs-down buttons under any reply; your feedback goes straight to the team and helps Lena get better.
