How to host your Product Feed

Version 1.0 (Updated on August 14th, 2025)

Managing and updating your product catalog efficiently is essential when working with Icecat. However, direct uploads from your PC are limited to 10 MB per file, which can be restrictive for larger catalogs or when regular updates are needed.

This manual explains practical, beginner-friendly methods to host your product feed externally, ensuring your data remains accessible for Icecat Price List Matching or integrations.

❗Please note that these solutions are intended for one-time data transfers. If you are planning to build an integration with Icecat, we recommend hosting your import file on a permanent public HTTP or FTP endpoint.

Option #1: GitHub

1. Create a GitHub account and create any repository; options don’t matter.

2. Upload your file to the Repository:

3. Open your file in GitHub and click on Raw:

4. You will be redirected to the URL that can be inserted into icecat.biz.

💡 Any popular Git service has the same tools. GitLab and Bitbucket are popular alternatives.

Option #2: FileZilla Server

This way, you can transfer your files from your PC via the Internet. Please note that FTP connection is often considered obsolete and require skills to set them up correctly.

1. Download and install FileZilla Server from its official site.

2. During setup, install it as a service (or choose manual start).

3. Launch the Server Interface, set an admin password when prompted.

4. Go to EditUsers: add a new user, assign a shared folder and permissions.

5. Open/forward your FTP port (default 21) in Windows Firewall/router. If unsure how to do it, contact your Internet provider.

❗FileZilla Server will work as long as the server (your PC) is connected to Internet.

Option #3: Google Drive

1. Upload the file to your Google Drive.

2. Allow access to Anyone with the Link

3. Copy the link and paste it into the text editor. It should have the following format:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/<FILE_ID>/edit?usp=drive_link&ouid=<ID>&rtpof=true&sd=true

4. Copy the <FILE_ID> and insert it into the following link:

https://drive.google.com/uc?id=<FILE_ID>&export=download

5. The result is a link to a Raw file, which is suitable for our Price List Matching.

Icecat FTP Storage
