European Online Consumer Electronics Market Worth €112 B in 2024

Europe’s online consumer electronics market surged to €112 billion in 2024, marking a 24% increase over 2023, according to the latest “Top 100 Consumer Electronics Retail Europe” report from Cross‑Border Commerce Europe. That’s a remarkable leap beyond previous projections of €107 billion by 2025.

Online vs Offline: Where the Momentum is

While the combined consumer electronics sector (online + offline) grew to €215 billion, a modest 6.5% increase, the online segment is now outpacing the traditional market. By year-end, analysts expect online sales to represent over half of the total market revenue (roughly €117 billion).

Consumer Electronics Rank #2 in Online Retail

Online electronics now account for 13% of all e-commerce sales in Europe, second only to fashion, which holds 15.5%, up from 11% last year.

The top 100 cross-border sellers in the electronics sector command a combined €47 billion, representing 42% of the online market today, expected to reach 47% (~€55 billion) by 2026. Major sales are occurring through marketplaces, which are projected to handle 50% of online electronics trade by 2025.

Emerging Trends & Outlook

  • Recommerce surge: Refurbished electronics now account for €7.7 billion online and are growing at 15% annually, driven by sustainability and strong demand.
  • Tech innovation: The European consumer electronics space continues to embrace AI, 5G, IoT, and smart devices—fuelling both online demand and product value.
  • Cross-border logistics: As cross-border purchases approach half of online sales, retailers are investing in localized warehousing, automated customs compliance, and secure shipping models.

Key Takeaways for E‑commerce Brands

  • Scale your online channel presence, especially on marketplaces and cross-border platforms.
  • Boost listings with sustainable & refurbished products to meet growing recommerce demand.
  • Invest in logistics infrastructure to support cross-border sales efficiently.
  • Leverage emerging technologies (AI, 5G, IoT) to stay competitive.

With digital channels now shaping over half of Europe’s consumer electronics market, the opportunity for brands and retailers has never been bigger.
