Icecat Release Notes July 20, 2020: Microsoft Feature Logo support for Product Stories, and support of A/B testing

Just in time HP image syndication

– overwrite images from the HP brand feed for Icecat quality product data-sheets (PDSs) and add these directly to our image syndication server system. As a result, our users are getting image information just in time.

Delete empty video tab for LIVE URL link

We didn’t support video access by URLs on Icecat LIVE, as we can’t validate the integrity of such links on LIVE yet. As a quick resolution, we decided to hide the tab Video if we notice the attribute “Keep as URL” for a video. The next step will be a solution where we will support YouTube links.

Partner code validation

Added in the new interface Partner code the same behavior as in PIM features. When a user adds a valid field value, then we are seeing a green color which appears and then disappears.

Microsoft Feature Logos in Icecat PIM

We added support in the Icecat PIM to add Microsoft feature logos to a brand’s Product Stories. In case that products, for example, have support for Windows10 Pro, the respective Feature Logo is automatically added to the relevant Product Story. Till, recently that functionality was only available to the editor team for Intel feature logos, or only for a PDS in general.

We also added support for a custom brand report that covers the use of the new digital asset Product Story.

Detect text in images

We selected software that helps to detect words in images. For example, to detect text in images with boxed products or just promotional texts that were added to a product image. This will help editors to efficiently identify which products are language-specific.

Added the page title and description for better recognition by search engines and better user experience. And, optimized the page so that it loads faster. Page performance improved four times. But, more to come!

A/B Testing: installed the anti-flicker snippet

Installed the anti-flicker script from Google to support A/B tests via Google Optimize with no bad influence on user performance.
