Icecat Release Notes 175: Initiation of New Registration Page Development and Video’s Age Rating Connection to the Shop Locale

Icecat Release Notes 175 introduce the initiation of new registration page development, the introduction of displaying video’s age ratings in connection to the shop locale, and improvements in icecat.biz SEO. Additionally, for further details, please refer to the previous Icecat Release Notes.

Enhancing Partner Registration

We are excited to announce that our team has embarked on a new development project aimed at creating a brand partner’s specific registration page. Moreover, this initiative is designed to streamline the registration process and provide a tailored experience for our partners based on their affiliation with either a brand or a channel partner.

To ensure a smooth onboarding experience, we have introduced a clear distinction at the beginning of the registration flow. Partner will be prompted with a simple choice: “I am working for a brand or for a channel partner?.” Depending on the response, the partner will be directed to the appropriate registration form and corresponding pages.

Recognizing the significance of channel partners as the primary users of the icecat.biz website, we have maintained their familiar registration process. This ensures that they can continue accessing our platform effortlessly.

In contrast, brand partners, who are the primary users of our Brand Cloud platform, will experience a seamless transition to the Brand Cloud webpage for their registration. Once registered, brand partners will be automatically assigned to their respective brands and granted immediate access to their product information within our comprehensive database.

Throughout this sprint, our team has been actively creating the brand-specific registration page. Our primary goal is to enhance the comfort and convenience of our brand partners throughout the registration process. We are committed to delivering an exceptional partner experience and look forward to the successful completion of this development initiative.

Shop Locale-Based Age Ratings

Introducing our new User Media API feature: age ratings connected to shop locales for an enhanced user experience! Now, as users upload videos and corresponding age ratings to our platform and utilize them with their products, the age ratings will be dynamically customized based on the specific regional settings of each shop.

In North America, users will view the videos with ESRB age ratings. German-speaking locales will display USK age ratings. In Australia, videos will appear with ACB age ratings. All other countries will able to utilize the PEGI age rating system.

This enhancement allows users to quickly assess content suitability, promoting a safer and more personalized browsing experience.

Other improvements in Icecat Release Notes 175:

  • In our pursuit of maintaining the highest SEO standards, our team prioritized improving the existing <hreflang> implementation on icecat.biz. This crucial step aligns our language and regional targeting with the Google Webmaster Guidelines. That allows us to better reach our global audience and improve visibility in search results.
  • In addition, we have made significant changes to our website’s fonts to align with our updated style guidelines. More specifically, this aesthetic update enhances the overall visual appeal of our platform while maintaining a consistent and visually engaging user experience.
  • Based on valuable feedback from our editor’s team, we have implemented significant enhancements to the new Copy Product functionality.
